COVID-19 UPDATE 03/17/2020
At Millay Dentistry, we strive to maintain the oral health of our patients. While this is very important to Dr. Millay and his team, we take the safety and overall health of our patients, staff, and community seriously. This is our top priority. Dr. Millay has been monitoring recommendations and guidelines from the American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, Kentucky Board of Dentistry, and the CDC. We have determined that we need to make some temporary changes based on these recommendations and guidelines in order to limit the potential exposure and spread of the coronavirus.
The Kentucky Board of Dentistry and governor Beshear have requested that dentists reschedule elective dental procedures for the time being. This is in order to limit the spread of COVID-19 to patients, staff, and the community. In addition, the President has unveiled his “15 days to slow the spread” campaign for the same purpose on March 16, 2020. Due to these recommendations, Dr. Millay has decided to reschedule all elective dental appointments from March 17-April 6. We are currently scheduling on April 7 and forward. We will still see any patients for urgent or emergency care. We will always have someone answering the phones from 9 am until 1 pm each day to answer any of your questions and to meet all of your needs. The after-hours contact for Dr. Millay will be left on the outgoing message for outside of those hours. Please feel free to contact Dr. Millay for any questions or acute symptoms you may have.
We appreciate your patience through this unique situation involving COVID-19, as always, we are committed to providing the best complete dental care to our patients. We have been called upon as Americans to do what we can to help “flatten the curve” and decrease the spread of this virus. Dr, Millay and his entire staff take this responsibility very seriously.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

COVID-19 UPDATE 03/16/2020
At Millay Dentistry, we strive to maintain the oral health of our patients. While this is very important to Dr. Millay and his team, we take the safety and overall health of our patients, staff, and community seriously. This is our top priority. Dr. Millay has been monitoring recommendations and guidelines from the American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, Kentucky Board of Dentistry, and the CDC. We have implemented new protocols based on these recommendations and guidelines in order to limit the potential exposure and spread of the coronavirus.
We always have maintained infection control procedures in accordance with OSHA, CDC, federal, and state guidelines. This includes use of PPE(personal protective equipment) including masks, gloves, gowns, protective eyewear for doctor, staff, and patients, surface barriers, surface disinfection, and sterilization for instruments. We now are even more vigilant. Surfaces in the reception area, front desk area, consultation area, restrooms, and door handles which would normally be cleaned and disinfected daily, are now being disinfected throughout the day. Hand sanitizer is readily available in all areas of the practice for your use.
In addition, the following temporary measures are place to prevent exposure and spread of the coronavirus.
1. Only patients permitted in the reception area unless it is a parent with a child.
2. To reduce exposure in the reception area, chairs will be arranged 6 feet apart. If there are more than three patients in the reception area, you may be asked to wait in your vehicle and we will call you when it is time to enter the treatment room.
3. No handshakes from the team or Dr. Millay. A smile and a wave will be the greeting.
4. When checking out, we ask that you maintain 6 feet of space between yourself, any other patients, and the team. You may even be asked to have a seat in the reception area until we are ready for you if the team is checking out another patient.
5. Higher risk patients may be asked to reschedule their appointments for a later time. Higher risk patients are determined by age and/or serious chronic medical conditions. This determination will be made on a case by case basis, likely over the phone.
6. You will be asked screening questions as follows. If you have traveled outside of the United States in the last 14 days, have had any flu-like symptoms, upper respiratory symptoms, have a fever, have a cough, or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, you will be rescheduled.
We appreciate your patience in these unique times. For the latest information and guidance, please refer to the CDC’s COVID-19 situation page, the Department of Public Health, or the American Dental Association. Stay safe and healthy—we look forward to seeing you soon!
